What can I experience in Geboltskirchen?
Scheiben coal station
„On the tracks, ready, go!” – that’s the motto at the Scheiben coal station. Pedal along on a rail-cycle or whizz around the 3.5 kilometre long circuit in a diesel locomotive through the Hausruck forest. You can pedal on the actual tracks of the former coal trains and follow the trail of the “black gold” that was mined here until 1964. At the end of the trip you can visit the small museum and learn more about life in the mines now and then.
Leithen swimming lake
The swimming lake covers a total area of 30,000 square metres and measures 4.5 metres at its deepest point. As well as being a place to swim in the summer, it also offers a place to come and relax all year round. Fishing enthusiasts are also welcome.
Discover Austria’s first Nordic.Fitness.Park in the Hausruck forest. You can enjoy the latest endurance sport in optimal conditions along four licensed Nordic walking routes. The routes are between 2.7 and 11.7 kilometres in length and have differing demands and elevation profiles.
Cross-country skiing centre
Nestled among the gentle hills of the Hausruck forest, Geboltskirchen is the ideal destination for cross-country skiing fans in winter. The well maintained cross-country ski runs with a length of five or eight kilometres are just as suitable for beginners as for ambitious cross-country skiers. Skating enthusiasts can enjoy the five kilometre long skating run. The start and end point for all cross-country ski runs is in the town centre behind the parish office. The Pichler and Ledererwirt guesthouses offer shower facilities free of charge.
