The lecture deals with the time of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation in the "Land ob der Enns", with a greater emphasis on the great Peasants' War of 1626. Thus, the topic fits the commemoration year that is being celebrated this year.
The historical events will, however, be placed in a larger context; the spread of Lutheranism and the resistance by the authorities will be traced, as well as the social and cultural conditions in the Early Modern period.
In depicting the life worlds of that time, great importance is placed on making contemporary horizons of thought comprehensible. This creates a colorful panorama of the 16th and 17th centuries, which provides many insights into the world in which our ancestors once lived.
The book is filled with interesting stories, anecdotes, and legends from various parts of the federal state.
