The renowned and top-class summer of music actually lasts for ten months – from March to December – and includes fantastic concerts and revues.
The summer of music in Bad Schallerbach has been one of the most significant cultural events in Upper Austria for many years, and its diverse programme and artistic quality have turned it into a fixed part of the cultural landscape. As a "cultural brand", it is also an important cultural ambassador for the Upper Austrian region. In addition to the outstanding musical offering, the programme for the 19th international summer of music in Bad Schallerbach also includes revues, satires and readings again. From 5th March 2014, visitors can look forward to an immensely eclectic festival with well-known performers and idols. Summer of music - locations Parz country house in Grieskirchen will be host to several events during the 2014 season of the international summer of music. The wonderful atmosphere in the new ballroom provides the perfect backdrop for classical concerts. The Protestant church in Wallern is known for its beauty and exceptional acoustics, and the performances held here promise to be a particular treat for the ears. However, the home of the summer of music is the atrium in Bad Schallerbach. In the Europe hall and the covered inner courtyard, local idols feel just as at home as international music stars. Artistic director Peter Gillmayr, born in Linz, is the founder and artistic director of the international summer of music in Bad Schallerbach. He completed his studies in instrumental pedagogy and applied music at the Bruckner conservatoire in Linz and the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. Alongside his activities as an orchestra musician, instrumentalist, concert master and conductor, he also runs a class for violins, violas and chamber music at the music school in Grieskirchen. In addition, he has conceived 20 concert series, two thousand written and audio projects and around 50 of his own productions. In recognition of his accomplishments, Dr. Josef Pühringer awarded him the title of “consultant for music cultivation” in 2006.
