The 1.2 km long hiking trail leads from the family excursion destination "Kohlebahnhof Scheiben" in Geboltskirchen along the former coal railway line to the Trattnach spring.
On the stroller and handicapped accessible flat trail in the Hausruckwald, visitors can expect an encounter with water as the elixir of life and as a physical quantity. Many exciting refinements, such as a water wheel, a spiral funnel or the largest "leaf" in the Hausruckwald, have been built along the nature discovery trail. A bird recognition path with 14 stations accompanies the trail to the source of our district river. There, at the water playground, one also meets the mascot "Trattino" the fire salamander. As part of a competition, all elementary schools along the Trattnach River submitted name suggestions for the 2.5m tall water-spitting salamander. From 450 entries, the suggestion of Benjamin Karl from Schlüsslberg was selected and carved on the back of the salamander.
The project of the Verschönerungsverein and the municipality of Geboltskirchen could be realized with the help of a Leader grant from the European Union. The new Trattnach spring represents an additional family-friendly offer, which is freely available to both the local population and the guests of the Vitalwelt Bad Schallerbach.
