The charming place to live and enjoy culture! The market town of Wallern has become a very well loved residential parish in Trattnachtal over the past few years, without losing the charm of its countrified cultural landscape. Around 3,100 people live in 1,200 households in the 18 small towns.
The Trattnach nature trail, with its 22 display boards containing information about the regional flora and fauna, gives an insight into the diversity of the beautiful area around the Trattnach. Lighting has been fitted along the whole trail. Four routes in the Wallern area have been marked out for jogging and walking fans. Maps showing the route profiles are on display in the parish office. Anyone wishing to partake in other sporting activities can keep fit by playing tennis or curling in the sports hall. The recreational offering is completed by western riding for all age groups in the modern riding arena of the Wallern riding club and carriage rides. For football fans there is an artificial pitch with a new floodlighting system. This is also where the Austrian archery championships have been held for many years.
Places of interest in Wallern
In 1981/82 the Catholic church dedicated to the holy Florian was rebuilt. Only the tower from the year 1885 was still standing and this determined the architectural design of the new church. Since 1782 there has also been a Protestant parish where people live in a good “ecumenical cooperation”. The Trinity Church, built around 1850, exudes special architectural beauty and were recently renovated along with the parish centre. The local museum provides an insight into folk culture and the history of Wallern and the local surroundings. Please phone in advance to arrange a visit.
The new “akZent” event centre, located next to the Schaich guesthouse, can be used as a venue for weddings, concerts, seminars etc.
