The most important noble residence in the municipality of Rottenbach is Innernsee, once a moated castle, later a moated castle. The old Innernsee castle stood on the "Haselwiese". As elsewhere, the first building was probably made of wood. It is no longer possible to say with certainty whether the people of Innernsee rose from the peasantry to knighthood.
