?In the Naturpark Obst-Hügel-Land (Obst-Hügel-Land nature park) in the municipalities of Scharten and St. Marienkirchen, you can experience nature in a variety of ways. From the flowering season of the fruit trees in spring to the harvest of the meadow orchards in autumn, from the exclusive offers of spectacles of nature to the practical fruit tree pruning courses. Offers The Obst-Hügel-Land is very popular especially with hikers and cyclists. The Kirschblütenweg (cherry blossom path) in Scharten or the Weberbartl-Weg (“Weberbartl”-apple path) in St. Marienkirchen are only two of the eleven signposted circular hiking trails in total in the Naturpark. And since 2012, there is also a 37-kilometre-long Obst-Hügel-Land bike path that crosses the Naturpark. TIP: A glass of refreshing Schartner or Samareiner Most (cider from Scharten or Samarein) and a hearty snack turn the breaks into an experience of culinary delight! You will receive the Naturpark-Freizeitwegekarte (map of leisure trails in the Naturpark) at the tourist information of the Vitalwelt in Bad Schallerbach or at the Naturpark office in St. Marienkirchen. The Mostmuseum (cider museum) and the Obstlehrgarten (educational fruit garden) in St. Marienkirchen are worth a visit, as well. And you definitely should not miss the opportunity to visit one of the many rustic fruit and cider producers on your tour through the Naturpark. Here, the range varies from fresh fruit (cherries, apricots, apples, pears) to cider and juices to sparkling fruit wines, brandy and liqueurs.
