Since the development of the sulfur thermal spring in 1918, Bad Schallerbach has continuously evolved into a modern and well-known spa and tourism destination. With its excellent infrastructure, favorable location, and Eurotherme as the leading tourist operation, Bad Schallerbach has made a name for itself as an attractive residential and modern tourism community to this day.
With nearly 400,000 overnight stays per year, Bad Schallerbach has been competing for years in Upper Austria's top league of tourism communities.

The 16th of April 1924 marks a very important date in this development. Based on scientific investigations of our sulfur thermal spring and the report of the regional health director Dr. Veitl, the Upper Austrian government declared the municipality of Schönau as a SPAR AND HEALTH RESORT with year-round operation. At that time, Schallerbach was still a district of the municipality of Schönau, and the renaming of the municipality occurred at a later point. With the declaration as a spa
the foundation for our local development was laid, which has since gone hand in hand with the development of the thermal spa and health facilities.

The market town of Bad Schallerbach, in cooperation with WIR.BadSchallerbach, the Eurotherme Bad Schallerbach, and the Vitalwelt, took the 100th anniversary in 2024 as an opportunity to bring the success story of the market town closer through word and image on this 100-year path.
