Krippenmuseum im Ölerhaus

The Krippenfreunde Hausruck Geboltskirchen have been passionately dedicated to crib construction and the passing on of this traditional craft since 2003. With over 800 cribs produced, a state crib construction school founded in 2006, a diverse club life, and the "Ölerhaus," which has served as a museum and material storage since 2016, the association is a vibrant center for crib art in Upper Austria.

The Krippenfreunde Hausruck Geboltskirchen association was founded in 2003 and has around 170 members. The driving force was the nativity scene master Josef Ahammer, who held the first nativity scene construction course in Geboltskirchen in 1999. With the establishment of the Upper Austrian state nativity scene construction school in 2006, a center for the art of nativity scene construction was created, with Ahammer as its first director. Under his leadership, as well as through the dedication of committed members, more than 800 nativity scenes have been produced since then. The training to become a master nativity scene builder lasts four years and is accompanied by many courses and seminars. The works of the participants are presented annually in a special exhibition around December 8th. The association is also strongly committed to promoting children and youth, as well as maintaining historical nativity scenes. With the "Ölerhaus," which has served as a museum and material storage since 2016, another milestone has been set. In addition to nativity scene construction, joint excursions, devotions, and collector meetings are also at the heart of the association's activities.
