Theresia and Thomas Gansch, finally together on stage!

Thomas Gansch
Thomas Gansch, born in 1975, has always successfully evaded any categorization.
Whether in the formation “Mnozil Brass,” which he co-founded and has been touring the globe with for thirty years, in the legendary “Vienna Art Orchestra”, as a soloist with large orchestras or in a familial-theatrical context with his wife Theresia and their joint program “Doppelgansch,” as a composer, arranger, singer, big band leader, or brass band conductor, the native of Lower Austria cannot be pinned down to any musical genre.
He likes to summarize all forms of his art under the term “music,” which either “moves him or does not,” thereby clearing away all prejudices and providing listeners with an intuitive access to listening. The various projects have brought Gansch to over 45 countries and the musical experiences he made in his father Johann Gansch S.'s (1925 – 1998) brass band, have been supplemented over the years with a multitude of further impulses that he – very much in the spirit of the gifted improviser – always integrates directly into his work.
Today, Gansch draws from his wealth of artistic experience and incorporates his captivating personality into every project, from symphony orchestras to chamber music ensembles, from jazz to contemporary music, from pop acts to music theater and comedy programs, into his performances.
There are no hierarchies in his understanding of art, and he succeeds in exciting and “engaging” the audience time and again.

Theresia Gansch

The native Viennese was drawn to the stage from an early age, whether in her first TV attempts with “Fortsetzung folgt nicht” or playing the violin alongside her father, the Viennese song violinist, Reinhold Wegmann.
She studied acting from 1999 to 2003 in Graz at the University of Music and Performing Arts, where she won the audience and acting school award in 2002 for the production of Werner Schwab's “Übergewicht, unwichtig: Uniform” with her year. Thanks to this award, the production was invited to Moscow for European drama school meetings.
After her training, Theresia Gansch (Wegmann) worked as a freelance artist. Major clients included the Wiener Festwochen (This is not a lovesong), Salzburg Festival (Jedermann), Graz Schauspielhaus (Das Fest/Michelle) as well as significant roles, such as Irina in Chekhov's Drei Schwestern at the Theater Winterthur, the Wild Woman in  Peter Handke's Untertagblues at the Kosmos Theater Bregenz or Susanne in Die Hochzeit des Figaros in South Tyrol. She also made her first steps in the world of television and film as well as directing, before starting a family interrupted her career plans.
In her self-written program “Doppelgansch,” she humorously takes stock with her husband Thomas Gansch and reports on the drama of the role requirements for modern women as well as for today's men.
