Karbrunnen

Grieskirchen, Oberösterreich, Österreich

The Karbrunnen (the name is in its origin related with "Container", "dish", "basket", "box") had Gundaker of Polheim 1610 built. This well had above all a great importance for firefighting. The basin is octagonal and contains 156 hectolitre of water.

In former times the well stood between the hotel Zweimüller and todays Volkskreditbank (credit bank) and was later moved in the midst of the church square. In the course of the urban design the Karbrunnen was completely cleared away and set up again completely refurbished at the western end of the church square.
