The school history of Bad Schallerbach begins in Schönau, a locality in Bad Schallerbach, and dates back to the 16th century.

The school history of Bad Schallerbach begins in Schönau, a locality in Bad Schallerbach, and dates back to the 16th century. The old school, the "Kaiser Franz Josef Jubilee Primary School", operated until 1971.

In the autumn of 1971, the students moved into the new school building at the current location.
In 2003, the school was renovated externally, and in 2009, a new wing was constructed between the primary school and the secondary school.
In the years 2017 and 2018, the school was renovated internally. The classrooms are now modernly designed and equipped with the latest technology.
The following year, the schoolyard was renovated and equipped with new playground equipment and seating areas.
For several years, VS Bad Schallerbach has offered the separate form of all-day school. Currently, around 200 children attend the school and are supported by about 25 teachers as well as the recreational support team.
